Rat Tail explores director Chad Sogas’ battle with depression in this short autobiographical documentary. What begins as a comedic story about the rat tail he had for nearly ten years (that his parents still keep in the storage room of their basement) transcends into a journey of unexpected self-discovery and healing.
RAT TAIL premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick and was selected by Short of the Week and Directors Notes. Initially, the film world premiered at Hot Docs International Film Festival and screened at DOC NYC in November 2021. It was selected for the following Academy Award qualifying festivals: LA Shorts International, Holly Shorts, Tirana International, Bend Film Festival and Bermuda International. It also screened at Melbourne Documentary, Front Doc, Lunenburg Doc Fest, CUFF Docs, McMinnville and KC Film Fest.
