WhatsApp transformed Piccadilly circus with an immersive OOH that morphed the real architecture into a digital 3D experience to explain message privacy.
WhatsApp launched its first immersive 3D billboard at Piccadilly Circus— one of the most iconic out of home placement at the heart of London to convert skeptics into users and educate people about its built-in layers of protection that allows them to message privately.
As an extension of WhatsApp’s global privacy campaign, the Piccadilly Transformed contextualized multiple layers of protection using magical realism, by not just creating stunning 3D visuals, but taking over the architecture behind the OOH placement and merging real and digital, to tell our privacy story. The 3D immersive experience showed each layer of protection through a well-crafted film animation that morphed the building behind the OOH into the narrative and helped our audience on the ground to understand how each function worked, in a visually stunning fashion.
The OOH turned passersby into stoppers, onlookers into fans, and was shared across the globe, while helping people understand multiple layers of protection that WhatsApp offers to it’s 2.5+ Billion users to message privately.
