About the Work
Leap Forward is Leaps by Bayer’s third chapter in its five-year integrated campaign. As Bayer’s impact investment unit, Leaps has invested over $1.7 billion into over 55 startups, each pursuing breakthrough solutions in life science.
Brand building has been critical to Leaps from the start. To inspire the biotech community and early adopters, Leaps has created an integrated strategy to share our vision and milestones. The third chapter, Leap Forward is based on a simple premise, Collaboration Sparks Breakthroughs in science and beyond.
Leaps sought to demonstrate this by enabling a world’s first: a team of weather scientists guided a champion kite surfer across the International Date Line near Samoa, leaping from today into tomorrow. This remarkable achievement reinforces the Leaps brand promise: Breaking through impossible. Together.
The feat was captured in a gripping 120-second brand film, brought to life in collaboration with a brilliant team—mission producers, creative leaders, athletes, and scientists. In preparing for the feat, factors including weather volatility made it clear that Samoa is truly a harbinger of climate change. The collaboration between sport and scienc, and threats of climate change took center stage in a BBC StoryWorks documentary.
To build a deeper understanding of what Leaps does and why it’s unique, a third film featured interviews with startup leaders, explaining how Leaps aims to enable, so others can fly.
After kicking off with a dramatic launch at EmTech MIT, the integrated campaign came to life through organic and paid assets capturing views and engagement rates far exceeding previous benchmarks and industry norms.
Leap Forward is the embodiment of the brand’s belief in collaboration sparking breakthroughs for a better tomorrow.
