About the Work
IBM Quantum System Two is the world’s first modular, customizable quantum computing system and the building block of quantum-centric supercomputing. It facilitates any number of cryostat configurations and enables users to swap in classical and AI hardware to increase computational capacity. Additionally, it has the ability to combine multiple quantum processors via quantum connectors — a capability that will allow it to tackle valuable business and research problems at a scale that has so far been inaccessible to quantum computation.
System Two is clad in anodized, polished aluminum and surrounded by a box of 70/30 glass that act as both a mirror and a window into the system. At its core, the nine-ton dilution refrigerator contains three world-leading IBM Quantum processors in a vacuum colder than deep space, designed to combat outside interference.
The first IBM Quantum System Two is up and running at IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, New York.
