Health is a universal concern, yet deeply personal, filled with emotions and complexities. In collaboration with Stapferhaus, Kossmanndejong created an exhibition that transforms this vital topic into a playful, human-centered, and reflective experience.
This project exemplifies excellence in exhibition design by reimagining health as an immersive journey. Visitors start in a waiting room before diving into an imaginative “check-up” that stimulates the senses and emotions. The exhibition unfolds through phases like diagnosis, treatment, and discharge, mirroring the health journey while inviting profound reflection: What does health mean? How do we define it? And how do we navigate the vast marketplace of solutions?
Playful yet thought-provoking, the health market is reimagined as a supermarket of treatments, therapies, and wellness trends, sparking questions about choice, trust, and cost. The heart of the exhibition lies in the “emergency room,” where visitors collectively confront the challenges facing our healthcare system: aging populations, staff shortages, and rising costs. Through expert interviews and interactive discussions, visitors are encouraged to debate and envision the future of healthcare.
The journey ends in a serene “healing room,” inviting reflection on what truly matters for a fulfilled life. Poetic moments—like hugging a giant teddy bear or throwing your phone into a detox safe—blend serious themes with light-hearted touches. A personal notebook allows visitors to record insights, ensuring reflections continue beyond the exhibition.
This exhibition bridges the gap between the personal and societal dimensions of health, leaving visitors inspired to rethink what health means—for themselves and for our collective future.
