TAD is a studio that blends technology, architecture, and design to craft digital experiences that connect and inspire. Testing and prototyping are core to their process, leading them to seek a highly adaptable office space that enables flexible working styles.

In collaboration with Model Practice, who led the architectural design, Once–Future Office developed an environmental graphic and select signage and wayfinding elements that reflect TAD’s need for flexibility and cohesion. The result is a graphic that balances restraint and boldness—opulent in impact yet precise in execution.

The primary feature, an integrated floor graphic spanning 4,000 of the office’s 6,000 square feet, serves as both a navigational tool and visual anchor. Drawing inspiration from architectural floorplans, registration marks, and playful yet precise graphics reminiscent of aviation and playground designs, it creates a layered and intuitive spatial guide. The graphic delineates five distinct furniture configuration scenarios—ranging from worktables and workbenches to omni-directional storage units and clamshell setups—that support TAD’s diverse workflows. Each configuration is thoughtfully designed to facilitate various working styles, including collaboration, research, product testing, and symposium-style engagements.

At key points, expressive, radiating shapes designate areas of heightened energy—bursts of activity, conversation, and collaboration. Initially inspired by starbursts or sparks, these forms highlight spaces where teams gather to showcase projects, host events, and conduct labs. They contrast with the more structured elements of the system, reinforcing their role as hubs of creative exchange. The scalloped waves subtly evoke sound waves, emphasizing the fluid transmission of ideas that defines TAD’s workspace.
