Saintly is a personal hygiene brand on a mission to lead the world to a cleaner future, from behind. It challenges a category defined by sterile packaging, clinical messaging and euphemistic branding. The ambition was to build a product-led brand that embraced its purpose openly, celebrating the confidence, humour and satisfaction of feeling truly clean.

The brand leans into the category’s central tension: consumers want a better experience than dry toilet paper, yet “flushable” wipes clog pipes, damage plumbing and contribute to environmental waste. Saintly positions itself as an eco-friendly, design-forward alternative, with a tone and aesthetic entirely new to the space.

Illustration became a foundational expression of the brand’s tone and strategy, with a custom fresco, The Lake of Revitalisation, serving as its centrepiece. Fittingly, “fresco” translates to “fresh,” aligning with Saintly’s promise of a cleaner, more elevated bathroom experience.

Created entirely in-house, the illustration weaves together history, mythology, and modern bathroom humour. Rolling hills give way to manicured flowerbeds and structured symmetry. Doves deliver freshly laundered linen. A divine dispenser fountain flows endlessly. Toilet roll statues echo classical sculpture. And the landscape is dotted with butt-shaped hedges, cheeky nods to the subject matter, softened by elegance and craft. The surrounding flora are inspired by refreshing botanicals and flowers historically depicted in Renaissance art and manuscripts — lilies, narcissus, roses, daisies, and wild mint — all chosen for their symbolic associations with purity and renewal. The composition honours classical order and proportion, employing linear perspective and converging lines to create a sense of depth and dimension.

More than decorative, the fresco is strategic: a deliberate shift in category perception. In a space that avoids the truth, Saintly leans in with craft and clarity, using illustration to build storytelling, symbolism and distinctiveness.
