Stephanie Thomas
Founder and CEO
Cur8able Technology
Los Angeles, United States
Stephanie Thomas is the CEO and Founder of Cur8able Technology, an innovative public benefit corporation specializing in health and fashion tech. Before Cur8able transitioned to technology, it was a disability fashion styling consultancy through which Stephanie styled Tony Award, Emmy Award, and Independent Spirit Award-nominated actors for global events. Through earned media alone, Stephanie is featured for her work in fashion styling in more than 30 publications, including People, Forbes, Vogue India, The New Yorker, Vogue Business, and In Style. She's been approached by and worked with brands like Nike, Nordstrom, and Gap. As a result of her leadership, Cur8able is a trusted member of The Valuable 500 Directory of 77 disability-related companies worldwide, providing insight into disability representation to 500 Fortune 500 companies from around the globe. This prestigious recognition underscores
Cur8able's dedication to advancing disability initiatives and best practices. Stephanie
continues to style a small roster of disabled actors and public figures while leading Cur8able Technology on its mission of making AI smarter and more inclusive of people with disabilities.
Before becoming a social entrepreneur, Stephanie was a captain of the Chicago Bulls
professional cheerleading team (The Luvabulls), hosted a morning-drive FM radio show, produced entertainment television, and worked as a full-time award-winning SAG AFTRA commercial voice actor.
Today, her impact goes far beyond her role as CEO. She's a dynamic keynote speaker, an anthology editor of "Fitting In: The Social Implications of Fashion and Ableism," and is a celebrated Create & Cultivate Fashion 100 honoree. She has also earned a well-deserved place in the esteemed Business of Fashion #BOF 500, solidifying her status as a fashion professional actively driving global industry progress. Additionally, Stephanie has an M.A.C. in Communication along with an M.A. in Fashion Journalism and teaches fashion marketing and media studies at a private college in Southern California once a year. Stephanie is also a certified disability advocate as well as a corporate DEI & A council member for Comcast / NBC Universal, championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Advocating for disabled fashion customers has become Stephanie's life's work, and the "why" behind her passion for this work is grounded in her personal story as someone born with disabilities.
In Her Own Words:
The fashion industry is a social construct, and since social constructs are agreed-upon norms, the norms that harm people and the planet must be reimagined and deconstructed. Creating new cultural norms is what I am doing through Cur8able Technology. As AI becomes increasingly more popular in design, eComm shopping, and fashion styling, our company focuses on the activities of daily living (ADLs), dressing, and shopping to ensure that people with disabilities, chronic illnesses, and injuries are authentically represented in machine learning.
When she's not working or advocating, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, drinking mushroom coffee, reading, taking long walks with her toy-sized poodle, Cooking, Hot Yoga, and visiting bookstores.
