[Sanitation Workers, One World’s Most Dangerous Profession]
The gas exhaustion, aircraft-level noise, and engine heat reaching 40°C all threaten the health of sanitation workers. In particular, the lung function for sanitation workers, who are constantly exposed to gas emissions at work, is worse than that of mining workers, leading to a high risk of lung cancer. Sanitation workers are exposed to a variety of pollutants while collective garbage. About 260,000 bacteria are found on their bodies after work. The problem is the harsh work environment where they can’t even wash their hands. As a result, sanitation workers continue to suffer from skin diseases.
[Hydrogen Garbage Truck Protects Sanitation Workers’ Health]
The Hydrogen Garbage Truck is zero-emission with minimal noise and heat emission, greatly improving the work environment of sanitation workers. In particular, portable sinks using water, the only by-product of hydrogen cars, had an immense impact on the health of sanitation workers. The drawer-type portable sink allows sanitation workers to wash their hands at any time during work, reducing the risk of infection by 90%.
[Additional Information]
1. The COVID-19 pandemic made the work environment of sanitation workers, who are essential workers, more hazardous. They also have to collect discarded masks by hand, and it’s essential for them to wash their hands because they’re constantly exposed to viruses. Therefore, the portable sink feature was the most important function for sanitation workers and is currently most used in practice.
2. Sanitation workers were unable to wash their hands during work. Even when drinking a glass of water, they had to drink with polluted hands, and also lunch had to be postponed to the evening until after work was done. Thanks to the portable sinks, sanitation workers were able to wash their hands and dine.
