The Winter 2024 issue of Jewish Currents is conceived as After October 7, a 244-page book that blends content from October to December 2023 with archival essays. The edition features spot color throughout and metallic spot on the cover.

The book design scales back our editorial direction and invokes visual cues of our agonizing present. Through muddy grayscale photography, the unfolding catastrophe is captured with formal beauty and placed in an archive, like Walter Benjamin's Angel looking to the past and seeing a pile of wreckage. The design rests on an aggressive typographic hierarchy, and a color palette using the dual meaning of olive green, invoking both military uniforms, and the olive branch. Full spreads highlight art and pull quotes, while the cover creates a tension between content and design.

The result is a striking piece of ephemera exceeding the Jewish Currents subscription base, available in select book stores.
