About the Work
We mounted a monitor and an ìeye trackingî camera to an illuminated poster. This camera registered when people were looking at the poster, and the poster reacted accordingly.
As long as nobody was looking directly at the poster, it displayed a typical scene of domestic violence: a man was beating his wife. But as soon as somebody looked directly at the poster, it changed into a photo of a of the same couple pretending to be happy.
Since the whole process was programmed with a brief time delay, passers-by were able to catch a glimpse of the violence before the scene changed
