About the Work

Client: Amnesty International (UK)
Project: Amnesty Fence: ?Making the invisible visible?

Amnesty International wanted a way to raise awareness of their work seeking justice for unfairly treated or imprisoned people around the world, in particular Troy Davis.
Troy has been on death row for 19 years in the USA, despite serious doubts about his conviction. We teamed up with the anonymous German street art collective Mentalgassi, to create a series of art installations.
Lenticular posters were displayed on fence sites across London. Front on, you see nothing but bars. Troy?s face only becomes visible from an angle. A plaque on the fence directs passers-by to a site where they can find out more about Troy?s case and sign a petition to stop his execution- www.amnesty.org.uk/fence
We also created a film about the project and process, with a call to action to find out more. Within a fortnight, 60,000 people heard about Troy's case. The media from Britain, Italy and America all picked up on the project...but most importantly people tweeted, blogged and linked to the video content on Vimeo and Youtube.
Now over 100,000 people know about Troy's case and Amnesty?s work.
