About the Work

Mashable approached Code and Theory to develop the brand's first Android app. Having a responsive site already in place, we first asked ourselves what the role of a native experience could be within the Mashable ecosystem. We immediately saw the opportunity to leverage native-specific functionality, so that the app would serve as an additive experience that browsers couldn‚??t offer.

Mashable's audience loves to share content, often and before any of their friends. Not only does the new Android app showcase Mashable content through a slick design and discovery experience, it also alerts users of ‚??about-to-trend‚?ù articles through push notifications and the Mashable Velocity algorithm. What's more, leveraging the Android's native sharing functionality, the app allows users to share content to any app already installed on their device with just one tap.

The app launched with great success, surpassing the 10,00+ download mark in just less than 10 days.
