Each year Gatorade crowns the champions of the Super Bowl with the iconic Gatorade dunk — the ultimate symbol of victory viewed by millions, but only experienced by a few. This year we not only wanted to let every fan see the dunk, but experience it themselves. So we created an augmented reality experience that leveraged the native “lens” functionality and facial recognition of Snapchat. Without any media support, the Snapchat Gatorade dunk went live the day of the Super Bowl and quickly spread across all social channels.
