About the Work
Costa Rica is a small country with 4,000,000 habitants. Tourism is one of the 3 main economic engines of the country. Unfortunately, not all of Costa Rica’s tourism generates positive consequences on the country, since it is known to be Paradise for sexual tourism. In fact, 50,000 tourist visits of last year were done with this intention, many of them seeking to have sex with minors, a felony that is punished by the law. This is a major issue, and as it is known, foundations do not have large budgets to fight against this with awareness campaigns. So we saw a necessity to come up with a low cost, preventive and powerful idea that would target the people (foreigners) who plan to participate in this chaos. This is the importance of Jailbnb, a digital guerrilla action about advertising in a media where it is not permitted (Airbnb).
