About the Work
Save the Inventor (STI) strives to raise awareness about the importance of the U.S. patent system and to give inventors a voice in Washington D.C. Despite undisputed consensus that strong patent protections are vital to American prosperity, some members of Congress were considering sweeping changes to the system. STI came to us to help them rally support for their cause. But before we could rally people, we had to get the inventors and entrepreneurs of this country to understand what was at stake. Our solution was to build a 10-foot-tall robot named INO-V8. Constructed from 200 years of patented inventions, he represented the American innovative spirit. He journeyed to SXSW, urging folks to keep this spirit alive. Every time they tweeted #PatentsMatter, he would power back to life. Every time they stopped tweeting, he would shut down. We’re happy to say that INO-V8 is still alive and going strong.
