About the Work
To highlight that orcas can legally be kept in tanks just 12m wide by 4m high, we turned a series of digital posters into virtual tanks on World Orca Day. People could free the orca in each tank by texting a donation to the Born Free Foundation. A bespoke ‘Thank You’ message was displayed each time one was released. It then swam to freedom through other digital sites across the country. We broadcast the posters on Facebook Live and recruited social influencers to tweet about it. This helped us reach 1.5m people in a single day and increase Born Free’s Orca adoptions by 500%.
