About the Work

Too many people die on Auckland roads due to distracted driving and the problem is only getting worse. We needed Aucklanders to see for themselves just how dangerous it is, in a non-judgemental way. Distracted driving is so dangerous that even someone famous for doing dangerous things wouldn’t do it. That’s why we partnered with Auckland-raised, Hollywood stuntwoman Zoë Bell. Using one of the problems as the media (mobile phone), Zoë shared a video with her followers that mirrored their dangerous driving habits - launching on Instagram Stories, followed by Facebook and Twitter. Fans thought it was a regular post and were shocked to see Zoë driving Auckland streets without looking at the road, hands off the wheel, drinking coffee and putting on makeup. Partnering with Zoë, who is hugely respected, ensured our message was shared organically beyond just her fan base and it was immediately picked up by news media.
