About the Work

There are some people who come around and leave their mark on us all. One such person was Nelson Mandela. A man who taught us about unity, humility and forgiveness. On his 100th birthday it was only fitting that we honour and remember him for what he stood for. So Philips and The Nelson Mandela foundation teamed up to celebrate his legacy and give people a chance to walk in his footsteps, by wearing his iconic haircut. #shavetoremember was born. Philips mobile barbers travelled far and wide – from the suburbs to the most impoverished communities where Mandela’s values are needed most. Just by wearing something as simple as his haircut, people embodied what he stood for. Proceeds of the Philips shavers were donated to the foundation to continue his legacy. In the end one thing was certain – there’s a Mandela in all of us.
