Over the course of its history, Western script has developed in a horizontal style. The purpose of my project was to reconstruct this writing style by changing its orientation to the vertical style used in various Asian scripts. One particular challenge was creating this script’s Continuous style. This trial shows different uses of this style, such as combining capital and lowercase letters. The most important aspect of this project for me was to demonstrate that, with diversity and multiculturalism playing such a prominent role in modern society, the comparison and melding of different cultures can broaden a product’s potential, both culturally and commercially.
