About the Work
The end of year holidays is big to Mattel. People look for presents, go through all sorts of (online) brochures but stay in doubt what the best present is they can possibly give to children. To make it easy on them, we created a campaign designed to ensure the gifters that what they would give would actually be appreciated by the kids. We had the Mattel products reviewed by the kids. Not by vote, but by voice: the louder their scream while unpacking, the better the present. A new, honest and fun way of reviewing that ensures the gifters of the response they desired. Excited, happy kids.
During Christmas people struggles to find the right present for their children. Even if they go through all sorts of brochures, the doubt remains. We wanted to help people nail the perfect gift by showing them the excitement Mattel toys provoked in kids. Because there is a way of knowing when a kid loves a gift: because they scream. The louder the happier. So we went to a sound studio and measured the decibles kids screams when the unpacked a Mattel toy. We turned de decibel numbers into excitement level and placed them on each Mattel toy packaging.
