Background
iPad Pro is famous for illustration, not for animation. But now, with its new more powerful M4 chip, iPad Pro can handle all forms of animation (2D, 3D, etc...) and run apps that it was never able to before.
Creative Idea
To prove the new iPad Pro can now animate anything imaginable, three animation creators were given something to spark their imaginations: one performance against green screen, with no context at all. Every single movement from the actor could be interpreted in different ways, inspiring three distinct stories… It was a blank canvas that let our animator/creators imagine anything they want to animate. The three videos were launched exclusively on TikTok and were perfectly choreographed and shot so that they would loop seamlessly on the platform.
Insights & Strategy
Several insights informed our strategy and ultimately our creative execution:
- Thousands of creators love posting their art and the process of creating it.
- A massive portion of these animation, illustration, and associated app communities live/post on TikTok.
TikTok creators also love taking green screen footage from various sources (movies, TV, pop-culture, etc) and using it to overlay their own art.

Execution
- The videos were launched on a single platform, TikTok, because of its large amount of animation and animation app communities as well as creators in this space.
- We partnered with TikTok dance influencer/actor, Sofia Wylie, to execute our live action performance. Her dance background helped us choreograph each movement so that it could be interpreted in multiple ways by animators.
We were the first brand to launch and utilize TikTok's multi-collab post feature, allowing us to collab post with Sofia and one of iPad's biggest animation apps: ProCreate Dreams.
