Developed on behalf of the State Tobacco Education & Prevention Partnership at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, ownyourC.com is one component of the Own Your C (Own Your Choices) campaign, which takes a fresh approach to youth tobacco prevention and cessation by empowering Colorado youth to make educated choices and encouraging them to recognize the consequences of those choices. Targeting 12 to 18 year olds, the site helps teens make the connection that their choices today define who they are and who they will become.



Upon entering the site, visitors are greeted by a talking sun that interacts with users as they navigate throughout the site. Visitors are immediately presented with a variety of choices that allow them to customize the entire site from the weather to the theme, and search for hidden C-Coins that they can redeem for downloadable mobile wallpapers, ringtones, iron-ons, buddy icons, and other C gear.



To build social networks among Colorado teens, the site encourages user-generated content on discussion boards. Covering topics relevant to youth choices, one forum addresses relationships, peer pressure, music and fashion, while a second forum provides teens a place to share their views about tobacco. An educational tool, the site also includes facts about cigarettes, smokeless tobacco and addiction.
