About the Work

This piece is one of a series of two minute films produced for the Dove Self-Esteem Fund. It was not scripted, but the result of several conversations with young girls who are candid and at times, heart-rending, as they describe the pressure of growing up in a beauty-obsessed culture. Its purpose was to invite women and their daughters to the Dove Real Beauty Workshops. Hundreds of thousands of people have seen this film online via the campaignforrealbeauty websites and independent video sites such as YouTube. The workshops sold out.
