A native Texan, Hal has a marketing degree from Southern Methodist University in Dallas and a fine arts degree from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. Hal has been at Wieden+Kennedy for over 20 years and worked as Creative Director on Nike from 1997 until 2008 when he shifted focus to Coca-Cola. Hal served a term on the board of directors of The One Club for Art & Copy from 2012-2014.

An art director, Hal’s work has been noted by The One Show, D&AD, The New York Art Directors Club, Communications Arts, MOMA, AICP, Graphis and Cannes, among others. He is a seven–time Emmy nominee and a three-time Emmy winner for best commercial. In Advertising Age’s 20th anniversary edition of Creativity Magazine named Hal one of the 50 most influential creative leaders of the past 20 years. In 2010, Adweek named Coke’s It’s Mine Super Bowl spot of the decade.

Hal is married with two children and lives in Portland, Oregon.
