Read Interview
I’m a scientist-by-training turned award-winning creative director, straddling the bounds between art and science. From 2018 to 2022, I led brand and design at Ginkgo Bioworks, where I told stories of futures built with biology and shaped the aesthetic of the field — everything from launching a magazine to shepherding the company's brand through a $15B IPO, the largest IPO of a biotech startup ever. Now through my own business I work on visioning, strategizing, and executing creative projects for brands and organizations at the intersection of tech, biology, and design. I do this because I believe that interdisciplinarity and the visualization of technology — how we see and understand processes through creative formats — can ultimately drive change in the world. I am a frequent speaker and educator and have spoken at universities and conferences including New York University, Rice University, and SynBioBeta, while also teaching branding to science entrepreneurs through Deep Science Ventures’ Doctorate program. In 2021, I was one of three fellows selected for The Future of Science Film Fellowship, a program for emerging filmmakers to concept documentaries around efforts to make science more equitable and inclusive. In 2024, I founded The Biocreative Index, a directory and community of people working at the intersection of biology and creative disciplines. My work has been recognized by the Art Directors Club, the Webbys, the Society of Publication Designers, and PRINT.
I received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering summa cum laude from Cornell University, where I spent my time coaxing mammalian cells, exploring biology with architects, producing films, and photographing stories of love, heartbreak, triumph, and resilience. I have been carving my own path at the intersection of things ever since.

ROLE IN PROJECT
I co-founded Grow and in its first few months, built the magazine entirely from the ground up — everything from designing the first issue and defining the brand, to debuting Grow at conferences and launching Grow's website. Now as Creative Director, I set the vision for everything visual for the magazine — strategizing what every article will look and feel like, and how we'll tell each story through art and design. I creative direct every print issue, art direct over 60% of our editorial content both digitally and in print, and lead a talented team of additional art directors, designers, and illustrators to bring each issue to life.
