Dante Pasquinelli grew up in San Francisco around photography and in darkrooms where he developed an appreciation for the nuances of imagery.
Dante’s career began in Los Angeles as a post engineer at RadicalMedia before quickly transitioning to color grading. Largely self-taught, he honed his skills on acclaimed shows for Netflix, IFC, and AMC.
Since joining Ethos in 2021, Dante's alchemical approach has earned him renown in advertising, high fashion, and feature films. He works closely with the industry's top creatives, collaborating on projects for brands such as Apple, Gucci, Adidas, Google, and YSL. His recent commercial and music video work has been recognized with color awards from Ciclope and D&AD. Dante's feature successes this year include "Thelma," which premiered at Sundance and was purchased by Magnolia Pictures for wide distribution, and "Skincare," an upcoming Universal feature film set to premiere in theaters in August.
Dante's visual style combines intuitive color with textural atmosphere, invoking a sense of elegance infused with countercultural edge (different words?)—refined, dreamlike beauty meets coarse reality. Seamlessly integrating this unique perspective into a diverse range of projects has made him a sought-after colorist in both commercial and artistic circles.

ROLE IN PROJECT
I worked the creative team to unify and enhance the footage. The project was shot entirely on iPhone so we chose a look that would show off as much range as possible. Pushing the footage to a rich filmic place with texture and deep saturated colors.

ROLE IN PROJECT
I worked closely with Directors Bleunuit over the course of a couple days to craft a rich and textured look for the film. With so much life and grit in the negative our goal was to enhance the image without taking away from the realism. We worked photochemically, treating the image like one would in the days of telecine. Once we had a strong base we turned to the tools allowed in digital grading, shaping and adjusting the final color.

ROLE IN PROJECT
The director Glen Luchford wanted the piece to sit firmly in the vintage world. Pulling from old Ektachrome and Kodachrome photographic references, we leaned into the rich primary and secondary colors. We spent a few days on the grade handling all of the different looks and sets. The campaign was shot on multiple film formats, extravagant sets, and intense lighting making it an incredibly fun spot to color.

ROLE IN PROJECT
Director Walid Labri brought me on the project early in the editing process. We ran tests on the footage to find the look for each scene. With the ad spanning multiple eras and locations we wanted a varied and unique look. We worked remotely with DoP Harry Wheeler to fine-tune the overall look. The deep reds and punchy blues in the products gave us a rich palette to play with.
