Jason Fulford is an artist and co-founder of J&L Books. He is a Guggenheim Fellow and Visiting Lecturer at Harvard University. Fulford’s photographs have been described as open metaphors. As an editor and an author, a focus of his work has been on the subject of how meaning is generated through association. Monographs of his photography include Raising Frogs for $$$ (The Ice Plant, 2006), The Mushroom Collector (The Soon Institute, 2010), and Lots of Lots (MACK, 2025). He is co-author with Tamara Shopsin of the photobook for children, This Equals That (Aperture, 2014), co-editor with Gregory Halpern of The Photographer’s Playbook (Aperture, 2014), and editor of Photo No-Nos (Aperture, 2021).
