Jonathan Katav is a New York based cross-disciplinary designer. His diverse experience in branding, motion graphics, environmental design and art direction allows him to integrate visual communication, conceptual thinking and technological innovation into his practice. Jonathan’s clients have included Nike, Apple, Google, Herman Miller and more. His work has earned him multiple design awards, including recognitions from the the Type Directors Club, Art Directors Club and GDUSA.
Jonathan worked and collaborated with many creative agencies and studios, such as Other Means, Gretel, and 2x4. Previously, Jonathan worked at Pentagram as a Senior Designer under the NY partner Natasha Jen. In 2021 Jonathan joined Something Special Studios as a Design Lead, overseeing the design department and working across a range of client projects that span from lifestyle to music to technology. In the summer of 2024, he joined COLLINS as a Design Director.
Jonathan holds a BFA from The Cooper Union. During his final year, he was selected to be a Fellow at The Herb Lubalin Center for Design and Typography. Based on his background in Typography and Motion, Jonathan returned to The Cooper Union as a teacher in 2019. As part of the Type@Cooper program, he offered a class that revolved around the connection between type and animation.
