Description
Cinematography:
The main objective was to support the Dancer and therefore the music. In the first Act it is all about loneliness and being careful. So I chose to heavily rely on a Handheld camera and either longer or really wide lenses to make the space feel more strange and foreign. In the second Act the main theme is observation and curiosity, so I chose to gentler movements and be more selective with what is being shown. The third act is giving the audience more room to dive in. This is really meant to show the feeling of what it means to sink into a piece of music and lose oneself in it completely, also working with more abstract visuals.
General:
„to sink in“ is a 4 minute shortfilm/music video for the Album of the same name. In „to sink in“ the sound of the music is recognised as something fluid, as something you can sink in to. This reasoning comes form the assumption that sounds are never only something felt with hearing. The tones can be bright, dark, warm, cold, clear, numb, sweet, bitter or Fluid. What in the Concept Album is transposed onto the music, that feeling of something Fluid, is in the shortfilm/music video portrayed by the protagonist sinking into water.
Eve is drawn to a strange monolith through the forest after she touches it she suddenly finds herself underwater. Eve isn‘t overcome by the fear but embraces this strange feeling and lets herself sink in.
