Creativity Rules 23 is a contemporary multidisciplinary design festival, hosted by the Creative Technologies Department of University of Applied Sciences Salzburg. Taking place in May each year, over the course of three days, students have the ability to showcase their Bachelor’s or Master’s projects. In addition a variety of events in four locations, such as talks by leaders of the local creative industry and inspiring projects from all our creative departments, make the festival stand out.
With this years topic “Creativity against Dystopia” we are building bridges between tradition and modern technology. Furthermore the key visual, hunting trophies, visualize data robbery and the monetization of our personal data in a digital world. If you think you control your personal data, you are terribly wrong. Now, we are the trophies. With this project we wanted to shed light on this underrepresented topic and communicate our concerns to a broader audience.
With an experimental approach we combined two very contrary but harmonious typefaces and created a new, yet non existing visual crossover. A union of traditional and modern elements, influenced by the local cultural heritage of the festivals location and the leading technological innovations which are being aspired by the students projects.
