A stop motion student film made in 6 weeks in our school studio. it is Anjas (Director and Writer) second year project. She has never made any stop motion films before and therefore did not animate herself, but she built the puppets and did animation direction. We built all sets by hand, just like the puppets. They are silicon, wire and foam spray.
The movie promotes 'Rettergut', a German brand that "rescues" ugly vegetables, that are edible and makes yummy bread spread or ready-to-eat soups from these rescued vegetables. It is really popular and we based our world design and characters and all the colors on their CI and products. But the company was bought in our production time by another company called "Followfood". They rebranded their products sadly away from the colorful, cute smiling vegetables... We wanted to play with the perfectionistic and fake world that is a small parody of the one we live in, in contrast to the earthy, organic feeling product.
Logline of the story: In a world where only perfect vegetables matter, the ad follows the pea pod Stevie in his pursuit of perfection and an accident at the gym that turns Stevie's life upside down. In his desperate search for meaning and help, he meets a buff tomato and an graceful cauliflower doctor. Metaphorically, the ad is about sustainability and the fight against food waste.
