SpotShaker is an AI-powered music experience for kids developed in collaboration between Spotify Kids and Disney to diagnose early autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Research shows that early intervention significantly improves social and communication skills, yet a study of 260,000 children under 8 found that up to one-fourth remain undiagnosed, with Black and Latinx children disproportionately affected. This underscores the need for accessible, culturally relevant diagnostic tools. Maracas, deeply rooted in Latinx culture and widely used in festivities and early music education, provide a familiar and engaging medium for children. Through Spotify Kids section, children will play a rhythm game with their maracas to their choice of Disney music. AI evaluates rhythm accuracy, movement consistency, and emotional responses to character expressions. Disney characters dynamically react, helping assess social-emotional interaction skills. The app records responses to analyze emotion recognition, offering early insights into ASD-related challenges. SpotShaker combines music with AI sensor technology to analyze children's interactions, offering valuable diagnostic insights for parents and professionals.
