Task:
The task was to explore the phenomenon of visual literacy in an increasingly image-driven world and make it tangible within an exhibition. A particular focus was placed on how images shape our perception and the invisible mechanisms behind visual manipulation.
Idea:
The idea was to challenge the conventional act of seeing, starting with the question: How can someone who has been blind since birth perceive the world in other ways? The exhibition then became an attempt to reveal aspects of my life that have been misunderstood due to my blindness—the parts that are invisible, unseen, hidden, distorted, manipulated, and overlooked.
Solution:
/siːn/ is a photography exhibition that deliberately forgoes traditional visual representation. Instead, it challenges the audience to create their own mental images through imagination and sensory perception. Darkness questions patterns of perception and shifts focus to other senses. These mental images blend with emotions, memories, and personal experiences, fostering deeper human connections.
