Coca-Cola Zero Sugar challenged us to strengthen the brand’s role within meal culture, to be present in the moments when people gather around food.
Coca-Cola has always been associated with great meals: dinners with friends, family celebrations and shared moments full of laughter and connection. But the reality is that not every meal lives up to that ideal.
Some meals are socially mandatory: the awkward first date that clearly isn’t going anywhere, the endless office lunch with your boss, or the dinner with people you barely know that somehow lasts hours. Moments where leaving would feel rude, even when you’ve clearly had enough.
If Coca-Cola is a brand built around happiness and shared moments, it shouldn’t let those meals take that away.
So instead of only celebrating great meals, we gave people a way to escape the bad ones.
Introducing TEXT ZERO, a simple service that provides the perfect excuse to leave any uncomfortable meal. By texting a dedicated number, users could schedule a call that delivered a believable reason to step away, from an urgent work situation to a small personal emergency.
The service itself became the campaign. Outdoor billboards invited people to text the number whenever they needed an escape. Limited-edition Coca-Cola Zero cans and bottles featured the number too, turning every product into a potential way out.
By turning an everyday social problem into a useful tool, Coca-Cola Zero became part of meal culture in an unexpected way.
Not only by being present at great meals.
But by helping people leave the bad ones.
TEXT ZERO.
Coca-Cola Zero.
