Alex Sudheim is an award-winning South African copywriter; copywriting lecturer; journalist and screenwriter. After having worked as an arts & culture correspondent for various print publications such as Mail & Guardian; Rolling Stone; Billboard International and Art South Africa, Alex ventured into the world of advertising. He worked as a copywriter and creative director at Ogilvy; Hardy Boys; Hirt & Carter; Orange Juice Design and Disturbance Design on clients such as Barclays Africa; South African Breweries; Unilever; Deloitte; Beiersdorf; Mondi and Derivco. Along the way he collected 7 Loeries (1 Grand Prix; 2 Gold and 5 Silver) and received two citations from the New York Type Directors Club.
In 2007 Alex made the transition from copywriting practitioner to copywriting lecturer. He has been at Vega School ever since and is currently the Senior Copywriting Lecturer on the Cape Town campus. At Vega he has thusfar guided students to 9 Loeries, 7 Pendorings, 6 Vukas and 1 Promax Broadcast Africa award. He also represents Vega in the realm of corporate training: he conducts Digital Copywriting workshops for Sanlam and is a regular creative consultant for Tanzanian agency Aggrey & Clifford where he has run several workshops for the agency's premier clients Vodacom and Tanzanian Breweries Limited. Alex recently completed his Masters in Media Theory & Practice at the University of Cape Town.
