HAO WEI TU
Hao Wei Tu is a communication designer and researcher, a PhD candidate in Design at Swinburne University of Technology, working in collaboration with Design Factory Melbourne and the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO), and an Art Director (Contract) at Melbourne studio D&D Creative, where he has led major rebrand projects across the CBD, including Midcity Centre and Downtown Grocer. He specialises in brand strategy, visual storytelling and identity systems for both commercial and cultural clients, balancing aesthetics with strategic communication.
In 2022, Hao Wei made history as the first designer from Taiwan and East Asia to receive The One Club's Young Ones Portfolio Award in New York. His work has earned multiple international honours, including six Red Dot Design Awards, a Gold at Design for Asia, Silver, Bronze and Merit at The One Club ADC, the AIGA 365 Design Awards, shortlist recognition at D&AD, and Excellence Awards across Communication Arts. His work has been featured multiple times in Communication Arts Magazine and exhibited internationally in Taiwan, Macau, Germany, Japan, and Poland.
More recently, his portfolio has been recognised as a Winner at the New York Type Directors Club's TDC 72 (2026), at the Taiwan International Graphic Design Awards (2025), shortlisted in Communication Arts Design (2025), and selected for the Golden Bee Global Biennale.
In 2025, he served as a mentor for the AGDA Professional Mentorship Program, a juror for the Design Institute of Australia's Graduate of the Year Awards, a finalist for Emerging Designer of the Year at the AGDA Awards, and a speaker at TEDxSwinburne. In 2026, he was invited to mentor Master's students through the Sint Lucas Antwerp – Karel de Grote-Hogeschool Internship Program.
