New York (April 28, 2006) - The One Show, the advertising industry's most prestigious awards show, will take place Wednesday, May 10th at Jazz at Lincoln Center. More than 17,000 entries worldwide are competing for recognition at the best in television, print, radio, interactive, design and innovative media. One Show Interactive, recognizing innovation and creativity in online and new media, will be awarded on May 12th at Skylight Studios in New York. Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencils will go to the creative teams of the winning works.

"The international advertising community looks to the One Show, One Show Design and One Show Interactive to set the standards for excellence in our field," said Mary Warlick, Executive Director of The One Club. "The jury of top creative directors faced the Herculean task of selecting the most innovative work being produced worldwide for brands, products and services."

As the industry barometer, the One Show provides an opportunity each year to gauge trends in creative advertising. This year, notes Warlick, the jury gravitated toward visual concepts minus the written word and sophisticated animation which supported the concept rather than as just special effects.

Client of the Year
Each year, the One Show recognizes a "Client of the Year" for the company whose work exemplifies a dedication to higher creative standards. This year, Unilever has been honored for its breakthrough creative work in a diverse line of package goods. "The insistence on strong creative came from Unilever itself. We see fresh new work for Unilever produced in New York, London, Dubai and Buenos Aires. It is exciting on this scale," said Warlick.

2006 One Show Sponsors
The One Show welcomes three main sponsors in 2006. The Wall Street Journal joins the One Show as the exclusive media sponsor, and will present the newspaper categories at the awards ceremony. Yahoo! returns as the sponsor of One Show Interactive and will host the cocktail reception at the One Show. Yahoo! will be presenting the "Yahoo! Big Idea Chair" to the winner of the Innovative Media categories. National CineMedia, a content provider for 11,000 digital film screens in North America, will present the cinema advertising awards. Both the Wall Street Journal and National CineMedia plan to make major announcements at this year's One Show.

The One Show continues the tradition of publishing all the award winning advertising, prints and scripts, in the One Show Annual, Advertising's Best Print, Radio TV and Design. The print and television campaigns also become part of the traveling exhibition, scheduled for presentations in China, South Africa, Brazil and Japan. The traveling exhibition is also showcased at universities and advertising clubs throughout the United States. Additionally, all winning work is archived in an online database, the most comprehensive collection of awards winning creative advertising on the Web.
