New Category: National CineMedia's "Larger Than Life" Contest

Deadline for Entries is January 31, 2007

NEW YORK (December 18, 2006) – The One Club has announced its Call for Entries for the One Show 2007, the premiere international awards show recognizing the year's best creative advertising. The deadline for entry is January 31, 2007.

Winners will receive coveted Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencils at the gala award show on May 9 at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. Last year, a record-breaking 17,000 submissions from 63 countries were entered for the three competitions: One Show, One Show Design, and One Show Interactive.

"This year's Call for Entry is an interactive piece. The peel-off stickers give creatives an opportunity to vote on their colleagues' work before it is even entered. ‘Winners vs. Losers' is the theme and it is all in the friendly spirit of competition," said Mary Warlick, Chief Executive Officer of The One Club.

The Jupiter Drawing Room, an innovative advertising agency based in Cape Town, South Africa, created the Call for Entry mailer (see enclosed). The mailer makes light of the struggles creative professionals are sure to encounter on their path to winning a Gold Pencil. The tagline: "Hard. But worth it."

A new One Show category this year is the "Larger Than Life" contest (www.largerthanlifecontest.com), presented by National CineMedia. Entrants will submit storyboards for cinema advertising. The winning ad will be produced with a $250,000 budget by RSA Films, Inc., showcased on NCM's silver screens across the country, and awarded a Gold Pencil.

Entries for the One Show are judged by an elite international jury of art directors, copywriters and creative directors. The winning work from the One Show will be published in the annual archive The One Show: Advertising's Best Print, Design, Radio & TV. After the One Show ceremonies in May, the winning work becomes part of an international traveling exhibition, making stops in China, Japan, South Africa, and Brazil. In addition, all winning work—including Pencil and Merit achievements—is archived in an online database, the most comprehensive collection of award-winning creative advertising anywhere on the Web.

Judging will take place in Palm Beach, Florida from March 25 – April 2. Among the confirmed members of this year's One Show jury are:

  • Cliff Freeman - Cliff Freeman & Partners (New York, U.S.A.)
  • John Butler - Butler Shine Stern (Sausalito, U.S.A.)
