~The One Club Partners With Doritos for 2008 One Show College Competition: Deadline for Entry is February 21, 2008~
NEW YORK (February 4, 2008)— For the first time in the 25 year history of the One Show College Competition, the premiere international student awards competition in advertising and design, entrants will have a dream opportunity—to create work for a major Super Bowl advertiser. As part of the announcement of the Call for Entries for the 2008 One Show College Competition, The One Club has named the iconic brand of Doritos as the subject of this year's advertising brief.
"Doritos' commitment to innovative advertising campaigns makes it an ideal partner for this competition designed to foster creativity among students," said Mary Warlick, CEO, The One Club. "Just as Doritos implores consumers to ‘prepare to take snacking to a higher level,' the One Show College Competition demands the high level of work you would expect from tomorrow's advertising superstars."
For this brief, students will look to create work that celebrates Doritos' larger-than-snack status by making a Doritos advertisement that is as iconic as the chips themselves. Students will create advertisements for Doritos in different categories: Print, Television, Innovative Marketing and Interactive.
Also new this year, The One Club has challenged those submitting in the Design category with an alternate brief. In keeping with altruistic themes of past years, The One Club has asked students to create a political poster that visualizes and raises awareness around a political figure or social cause of their choice.
Each year The One Club receives over 900 entries from around the world. Finalists are contacted in April and the winners are announced at the 2008 One Show Student Awards Ceremony which will take place this year on May 8th at the Prince George Ballroom in New York City. Judges of this event include the same elite international jury of art directors, copywriters and creative directors who judge the One Show, One Show Design and One Show Interactive.
Participants for the 2008 One Show College Competition must register online at www.enteroneshow.org by the deadline, February 21, 2008.
