Shining the spotlight on this year's Young Guns winners
Young Guns 15, arguably the most prestigious portfolio-based competition for creatives under 30, is going out with a bang! This year's winners were unveiled last week, and it's safe to say that this is one of the most eclectically talented classes in Young Guns history.
Next week is the traditional Young Guns ceremony and party, (you've scored your tickets, right?) and nearly all of this year's winners will be travelling from across the globe, across the country, or across the Williamsburg Bridge to attend. Ahead of the festivities, the One Club for Creativity is highlighting many of the winners you'll be able to meet.

What does winning this award mean to you?
Young Guns is an award for creative professionals, so now that I’ve won, it means I can finally consider myself a professional! This award is a big recognition of my work and it shows me how I’ve evolved from a student to an artist and a designer.
"When I started working as designer a lot of my heroes had won Young Guns, therefore receiving this award is a true milestone for me on my design path so far."
What sorts of challenges have you encountered to get where you are today?
A challenge that most creative people encounter is the balance between running a business and staying true to the reason why you wanted to be a creative in the first place. Overcoming this takes time and experience as you learn from your mistakes.
How did you decide what to enter?
It is always hard to curate oneself, as you look at your own work in a very subjective way. I ended up picking my own personal favourites which told a story and spoke for themselves.
Can you name any past Young Guns winners who you look up to?
I would have to pick Chris Cheung Hon-Him (YG11).
What keeps you going, creatively speaking?
I am driven by new and new ideas everyday, and the excitement of trying these ideas out — that along with having a team who keeps me going!
Now that you’re a Young Guns winner, what’s next?
Next up? My next collection! And after that the next one… and then the next one…
Wanbing and her fellow winners will be honored at the Young Guns 15 Ceremony + Party, taking place on Thursday, November 16 at Highline Stages in Manhattan's Meatpacking District.
