Presenting the kick ass class of Young Guns 22
It’s a kick-ass class. Young Guns 22 is topping the charts in creativity. But are you even surprised? Of course, not. If you’re new here, let me catch you up. Young Guns is a community of incredibly talented individuals – think amazing cinematographers, animators, illustrators, photographers, designers, and directors – and a new class of winners is chosen by an expert jury every year. This year we have 33 winners and among them, we have some very new, very exciting titles to unveil – an Architectural Designer, Composer, Stage & Show Designer, and Colorist.
We interviewed the winners so we could share their prowess with you. And if you’re a NYC local you can snag a ticket to the official YG22 Party at Sony Hall on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, where you will have the chance to meet and greet them.
Young Guns continue to dominate the creative industry, so we’re happily presenting you with the kick-ass class of Young Guns 22.

What were your original impressions of the Young Guns competition, award, and community?
We were very excited to hear about it through our wonderful team at Anonymous Content - it feels like the US Young Arrows and as that’s such a big deal in the UK we were really honoured to have made the cut this year!
How did you end up in the creative field?
We made films on our dad’s Hi8 camcorder as kids and it just evolved from there... Maybe it was fated. The crews are slightly bigger these days, though.
Congrats on the YG win! Why did you decide to enter this year?
We really understand what we’re about this year, and as a result the voice in our work is stronger than ever and we felt it would be a good time to gauge that in the industry. It’s been amazing to see how people have responded, the Young Guns included, and it is an honour to have won on our first try. It’s good motivation to keep working as hard as we can and keep growing our ideas.
You only get to submit six projects that embody you and your talent. So, how did you decide which pieces were good enough to make the cut?
We led with our gut and trusted that the work WE resonated with the most would have the same impact on our audience. Sometimes that initial instinctual response to select is the best.
What was your reaction when you discovered that you won?
We were actually at a dinner with our producers so it was a really lovely team moment - we ordered another round of margaritas.

How does your current home inspire your creativity as an artist?
London is a tough machine to be a part of - it’s expensive and hostile to artists in a lot of ways, both economically and increasingly culturally (arts spaces and venues shut at alarming rates post-COVID due to a lack of any governmental support). But we find inspiration where we live through the people that ARE making it work - through community led DIY events and social spaces, or home-brew darkrooms in storage units, or community organised poetry nights and band projects - we’re lucky to be in a very buzzy scene with an incredible wealth of talent and energy that keeps us going.
Name a dream project that you have yet to fulfill — maybe Young Guns will propel you in that direction!
We have an amazing music video idea that would really suit someone like A$AP ROCKY. So we’d love to try and get that treatment in front of him. Other than that it’s all about making the work that tries to break moulds and not following the crowd - keep it fresh and original.
Will we see you at the YG22 party in NYC in November?
Maybe! We're working on it.
Come party with us and celebrate the class of Young Guns 22 on Wednesday, November 13, 6:30 PM, at Sony Hall in NYC!
