About the Work

Amplifying the ‘Do What You Can’t’ spirit at the heart of Samsung and its millennial audience is a photo-real, anatomically correct ostrich crafted by MPC’s artists. Ostrich feathers are fluffy and dynamic; unlike any bird MPC’s artists have created before. To simulate their length, texture and dynamism, we created bespoke proprietary software, following a reference shoot in South Africa. The detail in every feather and dust particle - as well as invisibly integrating real ostrich footage with environmental effects like ground / dust, plus the CG close-ups - required an extraordinary level of craft. An incredible VFX challenge, beautifully executed.
