About the Work

A student unlocks her iPhone with Face ID and discovers a sudden ability to unlock everything around her with just a look. Intrigued, she starts unlocking anything she can lay her eyes on. Running through her school, she opens lockers, desks, art cupboards, even some trapped amphibians. “Unlock” was a very simple idea that the director (working with the creative team), tried to push as far as possible in terms of narrative and in-camera techniques. The story was precisely timed to an existing piece of music, and practical effects involving hydraulics, air-mortars and electronic triggers were employed to make things “unlock” in synchronicity with the actor’s performance.
