About the Work
“STILL UNKNOWN” was a design concept developed for the D&AD Awards 2018 Exhibition in Japan. Our purpose in developing the design was to highlight the fact that D&AD is not only one of the world's most prestigious awards for commercial creativity, but also an organization that is deeply committed to fostering the growth of new creative talent—a fact that is not widely known in Japan. To focus attention on the idea of discovering new talent, we used cross-section diagrams of volcanic activity as a motif, placing particular emphasis on the underground reservoirs of magma that represent “still unknown” creative talent. Taken as a whole, the visuals speak to the unrealized potential and exciting future of design itself.
