About the Work

Hrímnir explores traditional culinary techniques from Norway and Japan, such as smoking, preservation and fermentation to create ramen. The ingredients used are Nordic and this combination creates a truly unique food experience. Our brief was to create an identity for the restaurant that would not look like a classic Japanese Ramen restaurant, but also not look like an old Norse style restaurant. The identity is based on the creation of Ramen, and how every ingredient is "ramenized" at Hrimnir. So our solution was to create a logo that was ramenized. The end result is a logo that looks like a merger of Japan and Norse in style, but at the same time is flexible, adaptable and creates patterns that can flow through every implementation. Hrímnir means rolled in ash in old Norse, so off course the identity is Black.
