About the Work

In the high-end-wellness space, people obsess over all kinds of new ways to optimize their health and well-being. The problem is that most of these efforts focus on the outside in. As innovative leaders in health supplements and diagnostics, Thorne wanted to flip that perspective and remind people where the real source of good health lies. So we took people on a journey inward—to find solutions at the next frontier of human progress: inside our own bodies, the Frontier Within. On National Selfie Day (June 21, 2019), a day focused on outward appearances, we launched the Frontier Within as an in-person experience in New York City and simultaneously as a web app accessible to everyone, using people’s real-time biophysical data to create a living, breathing interactive portrait of their own body—an Inner Seflie. We designed an immersive installation in a multi-room gallery space that communicated high-end innovation combined with deeply personal visualizations of the inner workings of our bodies, inspiring people to appreciate themselves from the inside out. Biometric sensors captured each person’s unique biodata, which appeared as a dynamic, responsive visualization on a 21-foot screen, a large scale Inner Selfie they wouldn’t soon forget.
