Description
The brief was to launch Gojek, Southeast Asia’s leading on-demand multi-service platform, in Thailand and Vietnam and to show how it helps eliminate daily frictions in people's lives. In many Southeast Asia cities, congestion is inevitable and is a struggle people have to face daily. This in combination with added friction like rain or heat, makes ride hailing and food delivery part of the solution to make everyday life easier.
The Gojek City was designed to recreate a vibrant and bustling city that can reflect countries like Vietnam, Thailand or Indonesia where food delivery and ride hailing are done by bikes and cars. The city actually consists of a record store, sushi bar, laundromat as it adds to the authenticity of a world without looking like a commercial set. It was also designed with the flow choreography in mind so that the smaller actions and stories that happen within the stores contribute to the overall synchroncity when the viewer sees the wider city shot at the end of the film. The entire 'wall of death' and cage was also customised and built from scratch to accomodate the cars and bikes as everything was shot in real time. With its large scale, it's one of the biggest wall of death that has ever been constructed.
The Gojek city we built was made up of smaller elements and choreographed actions by hundreds of talents where everything happened in perfect synchroncity when we see the entire city in totality. We wanted the film to be as real as possible so everything including the cars and bikes driving on the wall and in the cage were shot as it happened instead of something that was done in post production.
