Rewriting the Code is a non-profit organization that supports and empowers college, graduate, and early career women in tech through intersectional communities, mentorship, industry experience, and educational resources to become the next generation of engineers and tech leaders.
When we first connected with Rewriting the Code, they had a visual identity that didn't align with the message and mission of their organization. They felt embarrassed and uninspired to utilize it and admitted that over the years, it morphed by placing bandaids on what they didn't like. It looked cliche, and RTC is anything but.
As disrupters of the tech industry demanding change, they needed a branding system aligned with their tenacity.
The final concept focuses on disrupting the "code" – the status quo. By rotating the 'O', the wordmark shows a literal rewriting of "code". It's a simple yet bold statement that demonstrates how Rewriting the Code is making an impact. The unisex letterforms exude confidence and strength, while the 'O' shape carries into the icon and plays a subtle nod to the shape of a fingerprint and the idea of leaving one's mark.
To align with the global reach of the community and inclusivity, we built out an extensive color palette with supporting shapes to make it dynamic. This expansive palette is versatile and lends itself well to capturing the diversity and depth of the brand.
