In Europe, the numbers of female victims of trafficking have now overtaken the slave trade figures for previous centuries. Indeed every year, all over the world, an estimated 2.5 million people are victims of this crime. Eighty percent of these people are women and young girls. The tragic fact is that it is now possible for virtually anyone to buy a woman. Amnesty Internationalís task is to bring this outrageous violation of human rights to our attention.
